Framing & Drywall

Framing repairs are typically required in any reconstruction required due to fire and new drywall for fire or water damage.

Fire Damage

Wood framing is essentially firewood once the flame is lit. If this is your situation, we don't need to explain why this service matters. If the structure uses only metal framing, the need to replace or repair the framing will largely be determined by how hot the fire was. Though the studs are made from galvanized steel, the interior studs are not as thick as exterior studs and may be more easily damaged. Fires that burn hot enough will even melt or structurally damage the thicker exterior metal studs.

Water Damage

Though even a few floods or water leaks won't result in rotting wood if remedied relatively quickly, it can cause wood to warp when combined with warmth and moisture, and create mold. Mold can grow in areas where you may not see it, but some of the gasses released by black mold are neurotoxins and extremely dangerous to the health of people and animals. Where metal framing is concerned, flooding from salt water can lead to corrosion and should be cleaned before hanging new drywall.

Flooring & Subfloor

Flooring and even subflooring is often damaged in water disasters and almost always in fire disasters.

Fire Damage

Fire eats carpet for lunch, and your hardwood floors are just kindling; even tile will crack and become discolored under a hot fire. A prolonged fire can eat into the subfloor and warp it for houses, not on a concrete foundation. It is extremely important to repair fire-damaged subflooring as this is important structurally and for safety. We install all types of flooring.

Water Damage

Water damage to flooring can often be hidden, such as mold under the carpet or damage to subflooring from leaks that have been unresolved for long periods. Repeated water damage over some years can lead to rotting wood in the subfloor, destabilizing the structure and creating hazards. It is vital to have subflooring inspected after any disaster.

Roof & Exterior

Severely damaged structures may require roof and exterior repairs which can be done as part of our services.

Fire Damage

Texas Star Restoration holds a valid license and insurance for large-scale reconstruction projects. Following a fire, we are equipped to inspect and replace damaged trusses, install necessary ductwork for heating and cooling, replace the roof decking, and match any undamaged roof style and materials sections for shingles or the roof frame.

Water Damage

Water damage from burst pipes or flooding creates hazards when water penetrates electrical circuits, allowing the electric charge to electrify other objects, leading to electrocution or a fire. Even after the water has receded from flooding, wires that have been submerged still retain water and can overheat or cause some electric components to pop or explode. It is essential to have entire electrical systems inspected and repaired.

Doors & Windows

Doors and windows may or may not need to be replaced depending on the materials they are constructed of and they type of damage.

Fire Damage

Fire damage to windows and what the repair or restoration process looks like varies depending on the materials the window is made from, the temperatures involved in the fire, and potential impact damage. Window and door frames and the mechanisms that cause the window or door to function can be made from metal, wood, plastics, and rope or cord of natural or artificial fibers. We can help you assess the damage to windows and doors and install suitable replacements where restoration is impossible.

Water Damage

Water damage often leads to jammed or non-functional doors and windows, regardless of whether they are metal, wood, or plastic. This is because the structure around the windows and doors has become swollen and decreased the size of openings where doors and windows fit into the structure, placing pressure on window and door frames and keeping them from opening correctly. Metal buildings may even have wood incorporated into window and door frames, so metal framing may not exclude you from the effects of water saturation on doors and windows.

Electrical & Plumbing

Electrical and plumbing inspections will be required by inspectors. Be ready the first time with our reconstruction services.

Fire Damage

Fire is devastating to the entirety of a structure, including the electrical, by burning and melting the protecting sheathing around wires. Most plumbing is constructed of various types of plastics and polymers, which are damaged very quickly under the high temperatures of a fire. Once these materials have been damaged, freshwater lines made of these materials may release chemicals or particles that pose a health risk and should be replaced.
